Fathia runs a small restaurant for the mine workers, and her daughter helps her, who has no one to support her but her mother and her lover, the teacher Saadoun. Magdy, a young man from the capital, comes to the town to work as a mine supervisor. He discovers the town and the injustice done to it and its people, and begins his work in the mine.
