It looks at Rommel's early life, his victories in North Africa, his defense of the Atlantic Wall, and his later involvement in the 20 July plot.

It looks at rare footage and talks to U-boat veterans and looks at the life of captain Friedrich Guggenberger who survived the sinking. It also looks at the effort to locate the wreck of the submarine.
